ABOUT

JOANNA NOWOTARSKI
Registered Psychologist of Alberta #6155
Licensed Psychologist of New Brunswick #839

I began my career in the mental health field in 2013, working with adolescents experiencing behavioural, developmental, and mental health challenges. After completing my Master of Counselling Psychology in 2018, I worked at a non-profit agency supporting survivors of sexual violence. Over the past decade, I have continued to deepen my knowledge through extensive training in trauma-focused therapies, developing a passion for working with adults and adolescents experiencing the impacts of trauma, anxiety, depression, sexual and domestic violence, neglect, relationship challenges, and self-esteem concerns.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that healing involves more than simply talking about our experiences. I integrate evidence-based therapies with somatic and nervous system-informed approaches, recognizing that trauma and stress are experienced not only in our thoughts, but also in our bodies. Together, we work to better understand your experiences, build practical coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Above all, I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, understood, and accepted. I believe that genuine connection is the foundation for meaningful growth, and I approach each client with authenticity, curiosity, and respect. Through a trauma-informed and feminist lens, my goal is to support and empower you as you move toward healing, resilience, and a life that feels more connected and aligned with your values.
